Ah, summer

Most of our plants are coming back after a couple of particularly hard freezes we had during the winter months, and we're enjoying the beautiful colors of summer. There's nothing like it.

    1. We've been putting most of our time and effort into the exterior lately. I think we're about to turn our attention back to the interior and get some things done to the upstairs.

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos. We need to plant a few more things, and then we're going to start filling in with smaller river rocks. We finally decided against mulching, since mulch is impossible to clean up with all the leaves and catkins from the oak trees. Rocks aren't foolproof, but they'll be a little easier to maintain.

    2. Agree about river rocks! We have to constantly replace mulch. Our community is really pushing for more people to plant 'Florida-friendly' plants instead of having as much sod.

    3. There's a big push for native Texas plants here too, as well as for xeriscaping in general. We have a huge front yard, which wasn't uncommon in Texas in the 1950s, and I'd love to cut down on the amount of irrigation it takes to keep it looking good.
